Computer Foundations

Course Description

This essential course is required for graduation in the State of Montana and is designed as an overview class which focuses on how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as touch typing skills. Over the course of a year, students will learn to format documents, organize and calculate data, create graphs and charts, create dynamic on-screen presentations, and learn desktop publishing. Students will also explore career and college options as well as learn Internet Safety. This course will include the use of Google Docs and gmail accounts.

Textbook

Learning Microsoft Office 2013 Deluxe Edition will provide complete instruction in most Microsoft concepts. Handouts and an online learning environment will provide additional instruction for Career Planning and Internet Safety.

Typing Skills 

Test/Quizzes will consist of regular chapter tests, occasional quizzes and quarter and semester exams.

Assignments/Projects will consist of in-class work, out of class assignments, as well as any other projects completed during this course study.

Typing Skills will consist of points earned by being prepared and participating in typing exercises.

Grading Scale

A – 90-100
B – 80-89
C – 70-79
D – 60-69
F - 59 or below
